The writing was not that interesting. This may be the first bio of Washington I've read as an adult, and is certainly the first work by Wilson. We I not reading Presidential bios for other reasons, I doubt I would return to either the subject or the author. No notes, no bibliography. From Wilson I would expect a scholarly work, not something that seems to be written for high schoolers.
Not much space on six years as a General, as the President of the Constitutional Convention or as the first President. Not much information in the military or surveying preceding them.

George Washington Woodrow Wilson Howard Pyle Books Reviews
understanding the great American and his passion for the new nation, and the true leadership that born the great America.
It was a very revealing book. I had no idea of how truly great a man George Washington was. He was much more than a great general and president. Wilson presents Washington's life in a very appealing and readable way.
Great book. Old George got around especially at the Tory mixers
I recommend anybody who loves American history to read this book about one of the finest Americans to ever grace this planet.
The perfect book to read especially now with the uncertainty in our country. It inspires patriotism and loyalty.
A book written by a politician, a long winded one at that, he tells of George Washington's early life and his early military experiences, The author explains everything that the early revolution leaders argued about and went on and on about how GW suffered at Valley Forge.
This book is so well written I had trouble putting it down. That is very unusual for a dry over done subject like a biography of a very well known subject. I learned so much about Washington and a lot about the beginnings of our country I did not know. How this greedy aristocrat could be at the same time a true humanitarian and leader is fascinating. I will probabley reread this in the future. There was an abundance of well researched information.
